The Symonds Room is a beautiful Georgian Room in Clifton Hill House that has a partition dividing it from the Fisher Room.
Used on it's own this room can be used for smaller meetings, talks and lunches/dinners or intimate wedding ceremonies. Together with the Fisher Room the space opens to form a large room suitable for lunches or dinners, larger meetings and wedding ceremonies.
With a wealth of period features and large windows overlooking a beautiful garden, you could forget that you are in the heart of a busy city. Access to the garden can be arranged for you and your guests if you wish to have some fresh air in a secluded spot.
Plasma screens, projectors and other Audio-visual equipment can be provided along with flip charts. Catering is available from either our in-house Caterers or a selection of third-party caterers that have been working with the University of Bristol for a number of years.

Cancellations 180 days in advance from event start time will receive a full refund.
Cancellations 180 days to 90 days in advance will receive a 80% refund.
Cancellations 90 days to 30 days in advance will receive a 70% refund.
Cancellations 30 days to 14 days in advance will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations for events starting within 14 days are non-refundable.
Event date of a confirmed booking can be changed to another date within 12 months from the original date, at no cost.

About Clifton Hill House
Clifton Hill House is situated in the heart of Clifton and was commissioned in 1747 by the Bristol Merchant and shipowner, Pail Fisher. In the 19th century, the Victorian critic and writer John Addington Symonds lived here until 1881. In 1909 the University bought the house and it became the first Hall of Residence for female students.
The extremely attractive 18th-century gardens still retain much of their original charm and a character with some rare tulip trees still blooming.
It is now used for functions and meetings all year round and boasts elegant Georgian reception rooms, a print gallery and foyer.
Overnight accommodation can also be offered during the summer vacation.
