The Tent is a unique space located just a stone's throw from the thoroughfare of Bishopsgate and Liverpool St. Station. A 16-sided structure, made in Saudi Arabia and covered in woven goat's hair, the tent is a peaceful space ideal for meetings, workshops/training events, along with the stunning garden courtyard - a real oasis in the City!

It is carpeted and fully heated, with a range of atmospheric lighting options. The tent is circular with cushioned bench seating around the edge. There are no tables in the tent and people are asked to remove their shoes before entering.

The undercover glass foyer that overlooks the courtyard may be used for refreshments or to lay out items on a table.

Cancellation policy

Standard 30 day with Grace Period

Cancellations within 24 hours after booking confirmation will receive a full refund. This excludes events starting within 48 hours.

Cancellations 30 days in advance will receive a full refund.

Cancellations 30 days to 7 days in advance will receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations for events starting within 7 days are non-refundable.

Rules of the space

- No Red Wine. Throughout the venue, red wine is not permitted due to the white
stone floors of the Nave and the carpeted interior of the Bedouin Tent.

- No Smoking (including outside areas, and entrance ramp). Smoking
(including e-cigarettes) is strictly not permitted in any part of the courtyard garden
or side ramp, as well as inside.

- No Helium Balloons

- No Confetti/Streamers/Petals These decorations, and similar, are prohibited in
all parts of the venue inside and outside.

- No blu tack

- No Candles inside Tent or Inner Courtyard Candles are permitted in the outer
courtyard and other areas when in a container higher than the flame. They should
not be placed near/under plants or in thoroughfares.

- No Shoes inside Tent We kindly ask all guests and organisers to remove their
shoes before entering the Bedouin Tent.

- No Alcohol inside Tent. Alcohol may be consumed in all other areas, with the
exception of red wine. Alcohol is not permitted on site during government pandemic restrictions.

- Set-up and clear-up time is included in the booked slot. The space will not be
accessible before this time.

- The space must be left as found.

COVID-19 NOTES:

If you book an event on a date where government pandemic restrictions are not expected to be in force, but then these restrictions are reintroduced or are still in place come that date and we can longer host you, St. Ethelburga's will provide a full refund minus a 5% admin fee.

Absolutely fantastic venue. Couldn’t be happier we chose to go for this one! Definitely one of the most cost efficient venue on the market and full of character. Everyone has so much fun. The tent was perfect for the children to run around. The garden and the indoor areas were brilliant. Nelson, who was onsite, was so helpful! They accommodated us with tables, fridges, kitchen, glasses for no additional cost. Couldn’t recommend enough!

The uniqueness of the property and value for money in the middle of liverpool street is amzing! It was better than I expected and the little courtyard with fountain on arrival was a pleasant surprise. The 3* for service all go to Nelson who was there on the evening and was amazing. He was knowledgable, friendly, flexible and I can't fault him or his service!

I felt that I was getting emails every day from Nick from my initial enquiry to ensure that I booked and I was being chased to see if I was still interested (which is fine). But after I confirmed and paid, getting hold of ANYONE was a bit of a nightmare. I called so many times, left a voicemail which was never replied to and I think in the end I had 7 unanswered emails from Nick when all I was doing was trying to confirm details (which for a small group of 14 who weren't requiring anything other than use of a fridge) was an absolute chore. I never ended speaking to Nick again which just sort of soured the whole thing. It felt very much as if I was important until I had paid the deposit and then nobody could really be bothered to help. Even when it came time for me to pay the final invoice (I was struggling to use their links) and nobody replied to me. I had to wait for an auto-generated stern overdue invoice email as nobody had bothered to reply to me when all I was doing was trying to pay. As per above, all 3* go to Nelson for being fab but unfortunately, the pre-event customer care kind of let everything down and made me nervous about the whole thing.

About St. Ethelburga's Centre

The location is a stunning venue situated near Liverpool Street. It provides a fantastic combination of intimacy and grandeur with original 14th-century arches providing the backdrop to the main space. Destroyed by an IRA bomb in 1993, it has been rebuilt with modern features and offers a unique and memorable space for any event. It is equipped with fast WiFi and has an in-house projector and sound system available in the main space.

The Bedouin Tent is a circular space, ideal for meetings and away-days, intimate gatherings and workshops, while the Nave offers a spectacular space for larger events.

We can offer catering from light refreshments right up to a fully staffed service. Or, for if you are an individual or small charity, simply bring your own and use our kitchen.

This is a place like no other!
